My 11-year-old discovered it at her school's book fair, and when I peeked inside and saw the publication date of 1970, I did a happy dance. The film's plot focuses more on Mr Fox's relationship with Mrs Fox and his son, which is pitted against Mr Fox's desire to steal chickens as a means of feeling like his natural self. Fox and his family, and all the other underground creatures that lived around the hill, begin to starve. Here, they are nearly caught by Bean's servant Mabel and have an unpleasant confrontation with the cellar's resident, Rat.

Dahl wrote more than 60 short stories and they have appeared in numerous collections, some only being published in book form after his death. From a young age on I always adored stories about forest animals (which is why it's even more incomprehensible and outrageous that I have missed out on such a classic until now)!Fox, the farmers devise a plan to ambush him as he leaves his burrow, but they succeed only in shooting off his tail.

I read it to my daughter in a couple of nights and added it to my “70 from the 70s” reading project. The film adds scenes before Mr Fox attacks the three farmers and after they bulldozed the hill, as well as a slightly altered ending and more background on Mr Fox's past life as a thief of food. The Foxes' four children are replaced by Ash, a small and insecure fox who seeks his father's approval and Mrs.The novel was also adapted into a musical in 2016, and an opera in 1998 which in 2019 was recorded by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and Odyssey Opera. They carry their loot back home, where Mrs Fox has prepared a great celebratory banquet for the starving underground animals and their families. Fox with the help of other underground animals find another way into the farms and go about their stealing in peace while the farmers sit endlessly waiting to kill the fox and any other animals that pop up from the ground. and as a treat for him, i am going to create a book review in which i use plenty of pictures of foxes! A tale of the farmers determination to kill Mr Fox by whatever means they can; shooting, digging him out and destroying his home or even starvation.
