By 1906 the book had 2,056 pages, "exclusive of advertising", with 3,931 recipes and was "half as large again" as the previous edition. half title with advert on verso, frontis, xl, plate list, verso advt, [4] adverts printed in red and black, 1139, 12 (adverts) printed in red and black, 16 pp. with coloured frontispiece, 31 coloured plates and very numerous plates in monochrome; original grey boards, red cloth back elaborately blocked in blind and lettered in gilt, red sprinkled edges, backstrip dulled (but all letting entirely legible), a remarkably well-preserved, bright, clean, crisp copy. There is a 3 cm split at the head of the spine, and a 1 cm split at the base of the spine, with general wear along h.

With 4 pages of publisher's advertisements and a 4 page publisher's Christmas catalogue dated December 1862, printed on pink paper, at end. Even with the emphasis on food, some of her cooking advice is so odd as to suggest that she had little experience preparing meals. However, in certain instances, occasional blurriness, missing segments, or faint black spots might persist.Slight wear to spine ends and corners, a few marks to boards; a little slanting to binding, a couple of spots internally but generally clean internally. The present work is, we believe, the third edition with this latter title and the last before Hermann Senn's major revision of 1923.

Isabella Beeton's final work, the 'Dictionary of Every-Day Cookery' was first published in 1865 and is second in importance only to 'Household Management'. The Oxford English Dictionary recognised that, by the 1890s, Beeton's name "was adopted as a term for an authority on all things domestic and culinary". The recipes were largely copied from the most successful cookery books of the day, the copying in several cases unacknowledged in the text. The front board although in good condition does have a little loss to the corners with surface wear to the rear. She explains that she was thus attempting to make the basics of cookery "intelligible" to any "housewife". Beeton herself apparently believed that one of the most important contributions of her work to improving English cooking was the attention she gave to new and enticing ways of dishing up the left-over meat from the previous day" (ibid. The allure continues with Golden Leaf Printing that adds a touch of elegance, while Hand Embossing on the rounded spine lends an artistic flair.

frontis, xl, plate list, verso blank, 11 further coloured lithographic plates, 1139, bound without the adverts or the half title. This charming replica of the "new and greatly enlarged" 1890 edition features all of the original diagrams, illustrations, menus, lists, and other particulars and minutiae that made this work so beloved in its day, and continues to ensure its popularity today. Original green cloth boards with decorative design and small gilt motifs to the front, gilt titles and vignette to the spine. Beeton's practice has been criticised as plagiarism; Beeton's modern biographer Kathryn Hughes talks of her "lifting" and "brazenly copying" recipes from others, and says that this was "the way that cookery books had been put together from time immemorial .The present work, sometimes referred to as Mrs Beeton's Shilling Cookery Book, appeared in several editions into the 1880s. With numerous trade advertisements (many illustrated and most in red and green) at front and rear, and with a number of recipe cuttings loosely inserted. In 2012 the food economist for the British television period drama Downton Abbey described Beeton's book as an "important guide" for the food served in the series. Chapters 40 to 50 (some 200 pages) give instructions for dairy products, vegetarian and invalid (sick person) cookery, making bread, biscuits and cakes, and beverages.
